Electrical Division Superintendent for CB Controls, Inc.

FUNCTION

  • The Electrical Division Superintendent provides the leadership, planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control to meet the profit and growth objectives on the projects assigned to the Electrical Division Superintendent .
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent provides the operational management and supervision on assigned projects.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • The Electrical Division Superintendent reports to the Electrical Services Division Manager/ OR Operations Manager, for CB Controls, Inc.
  • All electricians assigned to the installation department report to the Electrical Division Superintendent.
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent coordinates all support activities with the appropriate support department manager, ie. Controls Department

AUTHORITY

  • The Electrical Division Superintendent has the authority to make recommendations regarding the hiring, firing, changes to the compensation and/or duties of, or the promotion of employees in a direct reporting relationship, provided these actions fall within established company policy.
  • Has the authority to make purchases of installation materials, operating supplies, and other services as provided in the project budget and have been approved by the Electrical Services Division Manager.
  • Has the authority to implement company operating policies and procedures that are applicable to the current project.
  • Has the authority to manage the daily activities of the assigned projects, including resource allocation and personnel matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following planning activities:

  • Preparation of the labor schedule for all assigned projects.
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following organizing activities:
  • The assignment of appropriate personnel to necessary positions in each project.
  • The assignment of tasks in each project to insure an equitable distribution of work.
  • The preparation of Performance Oriented Job Descriptions for all positions in a direct reporting relationship.

The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following controlling activities:

  • Compliance with the assigned project budget.
  • Compliance with the assigned project labor schedule.
  • The participation and input of Performance Evaluation’s for all personnel assigned to the Superintendent.

The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following directing activities:

  • The compliance of all assigned project personnel with company policies and procedures.
  • The performance, according to company standards, of all assigned project personnel.
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following communication activities:
  • Periodic reports on the progress of all projects to the Electrical Services Division Manager OR the VP of CB Controls.

The Electrical Division Superintendent is responsible for the following motivation activities:

  • Maintenance of a workplace free from physical hazards, harassment, and undue stress.
  • Recognition and acknowledgment of unusual contributions to the success of a project.
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent will assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Electrical Services Division Manager OR the VP of CB Controls.

DUTIES

The Electrical Division Superintendent performs the following planning duties:

  • Conduct an Employee Performance Evaluation on all employees in a direct reporting relationship, according to the company schedule.
  • Personally, supervise and monitor the performance of all personnel in a direct reporting relationship to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Personally, conduct team meetings for all appropriate projects to monitor progress and inform team members

The Electrical Division Superintendent performs the following motivation duties:

  • Personally, review the workplace to insure it is always free from physical hazards.
  • Personally, and quickly investigate and evaluate any claims of harassment in the workplace. Notify the VP of Controls/ Electrical Services Division Manager of the investigation upon initiation. Summarize the incident and the results of the investigation in writing.
  • Personally, and publicly acknowledge all extraordinary employee contributions to the success of CB Controls, Inc.
  • The Electrical Division Superintendent performs other duties as assigned by the VP of Controls.

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

The Electrical Division Superintendent is deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following are accomplished:

  • : Target Gross Margin on each project are met within a variance of 5% of the predetermined objective.
  • : Labor hours are met within a variance of 5%.
  • : Operates within the established project expense budget within a variance of ±5%.
  • : Personal/Professional Goals and Objectives are established and implemented and then reviewed at least once each twelve months and, monitored at least quarterly.
  • : All Department Policies are established and implemented and then reviewed and updated at least once each year. All department policies are in writing and in the form of Standard Operating Procedures which are updated as needed or at least annually.
  • All personnel reporting to the Electrical Division Superintendent have a current (within the last 12 months) performance review in which the overall rating is satisfactory or better; and contain a PMP (Performance Improvement Plan) to resolved any unsatisfactory concerns.
  • All major employee grievances brought to the Electrical Division Superintendent attention have been resolved or are in the process of being resolved.
  • All key employee job descriptions have been reviewed and updated at least once during the past twelve months. The Electrical Division Superintendent will review his own job description and suggest any necessary changes or modifications.
  • Monthly meetings for team personnel have been scheduled and held on a regular basis.
  • All major client/sub-contractor complaints have been resolved or are in the process of being resolved

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction management and site supervision
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
  • Proficiency in construction management software such as ProCore and Primavera P6
  • Excellent project scheduling and budgeting skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics effectively
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and quality control experience
  • Exceptional writing skills for documentation and employee evaluations
  • PMP certification is a plus

ACTIVITIES

· Complete understanding of mechanical/electrical drawings and systems, to include lighting, HVAC DDC Controls, high/low voltage motor control systems and any other systems installed by CB Controls, Inc.

· Review Plans, Specifications and Submittals thoroughly to ensure compliance.

· Attends job turn-over meetings as required.

· Review’s proposals to ensure all items are correctly included per plans and spec.

· Coordinate with any subcontractors Air Balance, Insulation, and Coring etc.

· Generate RFI’s regarding any questions or potential changes with projects.

· Update Management of any and all job-related information

· Ensure proper communication regarding jobsite activities.

· Schedule installation crews weekly and ensure employees are at the jobsite on time.

· Attends job site meetings as required.

· Has thorough understanding of the jobsite conditions, requirements, and codes.

· Coordinates with other trades as needed.

· Complete knowledge of the installed systems and requirements.

· Daily completion of company required paperwork and forms.

· Coordinate delivery of orders, cranes, man lifts etc. to meet project requirements.

· Communicate with upper tier Managers to ensure project performance.

· Maintains open communication with company management.

· Has regular progress meetings with the Field Foreman.

· Makes every effort to ensure the projects are completed on time and within budget.

· Review Daily Logs and Time Sheets of all assigned employees.

· Verify that all paperwork including employees time sheets are turned into the office on time.

· Maintains target margin objectives on each project within a variance of ±5%.

· Prepare close-out documentation.

· Performs duties as assigned by upper tier management.
